Google I/O 2025 to kick off on May 20 with major AI-focused announcements
Google is set to host its flagship developer conference, Google I/O 2025, on May 20 and 21 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. The event will be livestreamed globally, beginning with a keynote from CEO Sundar Pichai at 10 a.m. PT on day one.
This year’s conference is expected to be heavily focused on artificial intelligence. Google’s Gemini AI models are anticipated to be front and centre as the company intensifies its push to outpace rivals like OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI. DeepMind co-founder and CEO Demis Hassabis will also take the stage to discuss advancements including Project Astra, the company’s multimodal AI system that was teased at last year’s event.
AI’s integration across Google’s entire product suite will be a major theme, with sessions covering everything from AI-powered search to self-driving technology.
Android enthusiasts won’t have to wait until I/O as key announcements for the mobile platform will arrive earlier during “The Android Show,” streaming live at 10 a.m. PT on May 13.
