OpenAI rolls out ChatGPT’s image generation on WhatsApp

OpenAI is rolling out ChatGPT’s image generation feature on WhatsApp now. The AI chatbot’s image generation gained popularity earlier this year after GPT-4o launched updated text-to-image capabilities leading to a viral trend of Ghibli-style images. 

The feature has been launched globally in all regions and will be free for all users, OpenAI said in a statement. 

ChatGPT announced an integration into WhatsApp last year in December. 

Users can text on 1-800-ChatGPT to chat with the bot directly on the platform. ChatGPT will request users to verify their identity and link their free, Pro or Plus accounts. 

Initially, ChatGPT on WhatsApp was just limited to texts and added image and voice capabilities later in February this year.
